Not the mind probe!

This morning, Mr Postman brought me The Five Doctors, Serenity, and THREE bars of Green & Blacks. My siblings, they are good people. All Mondays should be like this.

Have seen The Five Doctors a thousand million times and it never fails to make me flail with glee. Things which especially popped out on this viewing:

* Putting Five and One together for so much of it was a bloody masterstroke.

* I still really like the Raston Warrior Robot and its enthusiastic gay jumping.

* If anyone ever tries to suggest that the Master does not want to shag the Doctor, show them the scene where the High Council explain their 'plan'. The man is drooling, I tell you, drooling! (Though he has naff all chemistry with Three: suppose Fancy Pants only goes for Delgado!Master.)

* Special edition = teh suXXor. The extra doomy ceiling in Rassilon's chamber is quite good. The swirly cone thing is not. And I swear, according to my 8-year-old brain, that at the end, in the One True Version, the TARDIS did a repeated dematerialisation thing which was awesome. (I may be wrong about this: when I was 8 I liked Roland Rat and therefore am an unreliable witness.)

* Zoe's dress doesn't look like bubble-wrap. It is bubble-wrap. Did she wear bubble-wrap in the original series?

* The minute he gets to Gallifrey, Fivey puts on a phenomenal amount of eyeliner. He clearly ran away to escape his inner tranny.

* That bit where there are loads of Cybermen on a hill and no one notices them for ages is arse.

* I slightly hate Sarah. *ducks*

* One appears to not even slightly recognise the Master, which buggers up all thoughts that Koschei resembles the beardy velvety-gloved one. Poop.

* OMG so much hand!porn at the beginning. And how unspeakably brilliant is the bit where One orders Tegan off to make tea, and Fivey sends Turlough too?

* Green & Black's Hazelnut and Currant Dark Chocolate is rather wonderful. (Not technically part of the viewing experience, but highly recommended.)

Think Captain Tight-Pants might have to wait till tomorrow: I have an urge to iconify some high-res handporn.

In np specific order

"A cosmos without the Doctor scarcely bears thinking about." is about the only evidence you need for the ship in my opinion. You forgot the bit where Five spots the Master and wanders over to flirt with him much to Tegan's disgust.

Five clearly took the eyeliner away so Tegan and Turlough couldn't abuse it - that's why Tegan was so angry throught out the episode, not only did he take the eyeliner, he took the 80's eyeshadow as well.

There's nothing wrong with Roland Rat!

One has a notoriously bad memory, and I think Three's only making a good guess at who the guy in black in (I don't know why none of the Doctors can recognise the Master ever, I though Time Lords had a telepathic connection) - also do you really want him meeting the Master and blurting out "Hey! you're the guy I used to shag at college. Do you remember when..."

I love the fact that it's Turlough doing all the catching and hand holding whilst Tegan bitches away happily.

Still my favourite episode ever ever ever, dodgy remastering and all. And I hated Sarah too until I saw her in other episodes, where she doesn't shriek a lot and fall down the world's shallowest incline.

retarded day!

XD I totally agree with all the "omg Master wants the Doctor" stuff... I remember the collective awww that flooded the room when I heard the "universe without the Doctor" line for the first time. <3

*drool* hand porn... I eagerly await the icons! XD And I love the parts where Five is all unconscious and Turlough's hovering over him. I could shout at the mountain tops "OTP!" but I doubt many people would get what I was screaming, then they'd think I was trapped in an avalanche and call a rescue team or something...

One thing: ...Am I the only one who thought that Rassilon sounded exactly like the guy that sang, "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch"? *blush*

Re: retarded day!

[identity profile] tekiclutch.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, shouting AT the mountain tops might trigger an avalanche, but whatever... you get the idea. *thunk*

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I just like the way Rassilon is plainly lit by one of those discoballs. (I do not know the Grinch singing man, apols.)

OTP indeed. Never has there been such hugging on board. Well, not since Romana II, anyway...

[identity profile] spiritedchaos.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait I've got a Five/Turlough h/c icon, whyever am I not using it?!?

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I almost don't need to now:) But there's some adorable 'Happy Fivey' moments on the Eye of Orion, of which there must and shall be icons!

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Sarah is unusually duff in this. Though in the ones I've seen, she tends to do a lot of screaming along with the fiesty stuff. I think the thing that upsets me most is her outfit, to be honest.

The thing I really adore about this one is I remember so clearly watching it when I was wee, with all my family, and my sisters explaining to me who everyone was. Aww, warms the cockles, etc.

I tried to download The Five Doctors from the who-eps community recently, but the file was buggered. I've added it to my rental queue so hopefully I'll get hold of it pretty soon. And from now on I will *coughcough* remember to rip rental Who DVDs before I send them back...

The minute he gets to Gallifrey, Fivey puts on a phenomenal amount of eyeliner.
Damn, I love my new fandom!

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The 'cosmos' line is a wonder. As is the flirting. I'm slightly cross with Fivey for abandoning his old boyfriend to a field full of Cybermen like that.

There are quite a lot of things wrong with Roland Rat, I fear, but I adored him. Had the pencil case and everything.

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, it's a peach, that one. Plus a great intro (I think, lots of old-schoolers would probably die at the idea) to the classic series for a new-schooler.

Have tried to join who-eps and my invitation remains lost in the post:( I will give you lovely Five eps, you sillies!

[identity profile] spiritedchaos.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Abandoning his old boyfriend and emptying his pockets and nicking all his stuff - maybe he was desperate to get to Gallifrey and mirrors and put his eyeliner on

Why does everyone on Gallifrey have to be so god damned fabulous all the time?!

[identity profile] anne-asta.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The best part is when they go away to make the tea, and then they cut back and the whole table is filled with bad 80's tupperware and a banana boat and colorful martinis. That's one crazy-ass tea!

One of my most fave bits is when K-9's like "dude, do NOT go out wearing that condom-like coat, you daft cow."

Okay, that's not what he says but it's totally what he *means*.

She seemed not to like outfit very much either since she abandoned bits of it across the Death Zone, heh.

* Susan is shite in this one.

* As is Sarah-Jane.

* It's very gay.

* Is that the version with the vomiting Cyberman for I hear he is not in every version?

* Even in their tiny wee bit from Shada it is clear that Four and Romana are in LOVE.

Dude! No! I completely agree - since it was the very first story I ever saw at the tender age of five and i fell madly in love with it and wanted to know who all the weird and crazy people were and thus began the obsession, yes.

It took quite a few days before my who-eps application was approved - I think the mods must do yes-you-can-join-our-community! fests once a week, or something like that.

According to screenselect, Earthshock is in the post for me. I don't know how I used to cope renting DVDs by going to the local Global or Blockbuster!

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Although he fails entirely to warn her 'Do not fall down any not-at-all steep slopes for no apparent reason, mistress', which explains a lot.

She has gloves on a string, too. Not mittens: gloves. Too odd.

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Though she does use a bit of it to tie up the Master. But that is no excuse for whipping off that fucking awful pink thing to reveal not only that scary doily-relation of a shirt, but also a woolly vest a la Compo. Doesn't improve with closer acquaintance, that get-up. She makes Three look quite restrained.

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Phewness. I got told off for liking it...um, somewhere. And told that Three Doctors kicked its booty.

But Three Doctors does not have fainting Fivey, not slutty Ainley, so it may not win.

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, Earthshock. Very good first episode. (Heh, I'm such a tease;)

[identity profile] pontisbright.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
And pineapple! The Doctors are worrying about, you know, time and space and all that, and the companions are having a booze up.

Also, as spiritedchaos has noted elsewhere, Susan is clearly eyeing up Five. Which is WRONG.
