ok, who ate my quality control?

Dear Turlough,

I'm very sorry to have to admit this, but I've been cheating on you with Dean Winchester. I'm afraid his angsty carnival of manpain has become inexplicably compelling, despite being hilarious. Perhaps it is the fact that it comes in such a pretty box.

Please reassert your daddy issues for my consideration at the earliest opportunity. And maybe hit some demons and cry a bit.

Yours in deepest shame,
uktg xx

Seriously, I think I broke something in my head. A very large portion of my brain knows that Supernatural is sub-X-Files post-Buffy nonsense written by people who perhaps read a magazine once while stuck in a lift. And yet I am goofily involved enough to have watched quite a lot of it online, in tinyvision, with the audio out of sync and FRENCH SUBTITLES. Help? I've been kidnapped by a fictional character who likes cock rock and is really quite a lot of an arsehole. *is bewildered*

Should any of you be similarly unwell, don't spoilerise me: I've only seen up to 2x13 2x14 (OMG!) and I'm sure plenty of thrilling manpain is yet to come.

Oh, and just to share the trauma around:

This is really not helping my fic-drought. But it erases that nasty Daleky aftertaste quite well...

Yay for SPN! It's eaten my brain, I swear. I've been watching it all out of order (caught some mid-S2 on the telly, then went back to watch the end of S1/beginning of S2, and am now back at the start of S1: soooo very ridiculous) but I seem to be becoming mildly obsessed with the pretty boys and their Car o' Greatness.

I thought Houses of the Holy was grand, although they laid on the 'hey, you're the sceptical one and I'm the one that wants to believe: perhaps in some way we will be forced to swap places by events by the end of the episode' stuff with the usual trowel. Subtle it ain't. :) But the one that made me flaily last night was Born Under a Bad Sign because EVIL!SAM! You cannot go wrong at all when there is an evil!Sam about. (Apart from the continuing use of Jo as some kind of endlessly attackable pornpuppet, which is making me enormously uncomfortable.)

It tends to do that brain eaty thing. Have to say as a whole, I'm enjoying s2 much more, though I like the s1 quest/this is what we do thing they had going on... loved Dead in the Water and Provenance for example. Great, great ghost stories. Some moments of sheer ridiculousness but I like how Kripke is twisting a few of the usual boogeymen and is more focussed on their characters. That's nice to see. For non-wank (it is hard to avoid in this fandom!) check out [livejournal.com profile] researchgrrrl's stuff. :) And they are far, far too pretty to die.

Evil!Sam was ridiculously hot. Unfathomably hot. Also where I perked up and went, why hello Sammy - grown up some, haven't we? I swear, the boy tripled in size between seasons and in that good way. :D I agree on that attackable pornpuppet Jo thing, though I do like that she's trying to get her stuff together and sort out how to do this hunter thing rather than just hero-worshipping the idea of being a hunter (which I think is where she was way back when...). I hope she comes back a little more mature.. I make allowances for her age :D

:)

My random viewing was mainly based on having heard that S2 was much better, which has been pretty much borne out by what I've watched, yeah: I'm happy enough to watch the spook-of-the-week/looking-for-daddy business of S1, but it's the character development stuff that's floating my personal boat (along with the snarking). I love how, despite all the 'no chick flick stuff' claims they never miss an opportunity to have them sit down and have angsty discussions about whatever emo torment is bothering them this week. :)

I fear the fandom, though: RPS is very much not my thing and I adore the whole brotherly dynamic, so the Wincest is not remotely appealing to me. Think I may remain a cheerful viewer without leaping on the fanbandwagon (although who knows how long that will last when I run out of episodes to watch, so ta for the pointer...).

My eyes are for Dean only so the hotness of evil!Sam was overridden by the hotness of smushednbroken!Dean - but yeah, he's definitely been down the gym and possibly grown even taller. Yay for Giant Sam. As for Jo, I think I was coming off the back of 'No Exit', which I found really uncomfortable viewing: hardcore Buffy-type gets nabbed and needs rescuing and a lecture from the boys about how she's not really capable? Er, thanks. And then next time we see her she gets tied up and sexually harassed. The show as a whole has such horribly screwed gender politics that i kind of hate myself for still being mesmerised. But look, pretty!
