SJA/my childhood crossover casting squee!

Some kind soul posted links to the Ashes to Ashes stuff from the BBC's new Winter press pack, which informed me that they are doing Ballet Shoes as part of the Christmas line-up. I adore Ballet Shoes with a passion that is somewhat predictable from a bored pre-teen with nowt but books for company. But still. BALLET SHOES!

And not only has it got Hermione as Pauline, but *fanfares* Yasmin Paige is Petrova! Yasmin Paige as in lovely wonderful Maria from SJA! WHEEE! Petrova as we all know is the good one who kicks Pauline's diva-ish arse and then becomes a mechanic and fixes planes for a living instead of farting about in combinations saying 'And I' wrong. There is a bit of me that still wants to be her. I would fear they might cock it up, but actually I think she's completely perfect casting.

Stupid bobblehead Emilia Fox is depressing casting as Garnie, but am v excited about Eileen Atkins as Madame Fidolia, and Richard Griffiths as GUM, and Victoria Wood as Nana. And it existing at all. Hope it airs on Christmas Eve, so we can gather round the telly and annoy my nephews by being relentlessly girly.

I am possibly more excited about this than I am the Who thing. Sorry.

I LOVE Ballet Shoes too, and I am excited about this, but I had NO IDEA that nice Maria was in it, and as Petrova (who's the best one, yay!) so YAY!

Have you read Ballet Shoes for Anna? I liked it more than Ballet Shoes because a) it has my name in the title, and b) it's like Ballet Shoes only BETTER cos it's got earthquakes and running away from home and stuff.

I'd seen some tabloid pics of Emma Thingy which said that was what it was, but I was a bit suspicious and assumed it was a film anyway. Am so thrilled that someone I already love to bits is being Petrova, because if they messed her up, they'd have made me hate it already.

I'm sure I did read that one, but I think only once (compared to the insanely huge number of times I read Ballet Shoes). Thursday's Child was my absolute favourite, though. Liked all the 'Gemma' ones, though Gemma herself was a bit slappable. And White Boots made me want to have a skating skirt, which is possibly still the case.

Don't know Thursday's Child, but I loved the Gemma ones, and White Boots was awesome. In fact I read that this summer for some reason. I also liked Curtain Up, which on investigation has now been renamed Theatre Shoes, because of course that makes more sense. :/
